An Edinburgh man who pulled a knife and threatened to kill his girlfriend in an “utterly appalling” attack has escaped a jail sentence.
Tyler Ellis, 27, launched the sickening assault on his then partner by grabbing her by the neck and pinning her to a bed at her home in Edinburgh in May last year. Ellis then demanded the terrified woman hand over her phone code before chasing her into the street while brandishing a blade and shouting he was going to kill her. Following his arrest, he then breached his bail by repeatedly contacting her and stating he would “murder” her if he ever caught her with another man.
The sheriff placed Ellis on a two year supervision order and ordered him to engage with the domestic abuse organisation, the Caledonian Mens Programme. Ellis was also handed a non-harassment order banning him from having any contact with her for the next two years.
