An abusive partner who threw a woman across a room, injured one of her young children and taped a crying child’s mouth shut has been jailed. William Stephen Stokes, 37, admitted assaulting his former partner and her children in a series of offences in Runcorn and Widnes.
Stokes, of Rainhill, became involved in the relationship in 2022, with police saying everything went smoothly for a time. But, as the relationship developed, Stokes became increasingly more aggressive, violent and controlling.
He became violent towards his partner, on one occasion throwing her across the room. He also directed his violence and anger against the young children.
