A Coventry mum-of-two who was murdered in a so-called honour killing will be remembered at a special event next week. Sikh Women’s Aid will hold an International Day of Remembrance to remember and honour Sikh women who have died due to domestic violence and abuse.
The event, taking place in Centenary Square, Birmingham, also calls for action to be taken to combat such injustices within our society. Monday, July 17, which is when the event will be held, was the birthday of Surjit Athwal. She would have been 52 this year.
