Studies have shown that through any football sporting event, there is an increase in domestic abuse cases, usually fuelled by a rise in alcohol consumption, writes Charlotte Godwin, of Ringrose Law.

Incidences usually take place ten hours after each match starts. Statistics have shown that domestic abuse rates increase by 26% when-ever England wins or draw a game and by 40% when they lose.
